ARCHITECTURAL DIAGRAMMING.

This project allows us to develop an understanding of how to diagram architectural principles by abstracting and simplifying an idea so that it can be easily understood. We were tasked to conduct background research on the architect and selected building to produce a complete set of architectural drawings. After that, we were to analyze the key building based on context, concept, structure, space planning, and circulation and formulate it into a set of 5 analysis diagrams and 5 diagrammatic models.

REQUIREMENTS. 5 x analysis diagrams, 5 x diagrammatic models, architectural drawings (1:50), 4 x A3 presentation boards

STUDY OF HOUSE WITH 5 RETAINING WALLS.

In groups of 5, we were to create analytical diagrams based on residential project, House With 5 Retaining Walls / Kiyaoki Takeda. By identifying the architect and analyzing their works, we can better understand the intentions and how they were reflected via architectural principles. Diagrammatic models were produced to further enhance our understanding of data analysis.

REFLECTION.

​From this assignment, I was able to reflect on the importance of developing architectural diagrams to convey ideas and information. It involved a long and tiring process of trial & error and sketching, however, the analysis conducted was a very interesting discovery as it was my first time analyzing a selected building and formulating it into diagrams. 

As we were a group of 5, all of the tasks are supposed to be equally allocated to each member. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience as there were 3 free riders in our group, leaving only 2 people to take on other workloads. It was quite stressful as there was a lot of pressure on both of us to complete the whole project by ourselves. Overall, I am very grateful for my other member who is very initiative and willing to lead the project. This assignment has definitely has allowed me to generate a better understanding of the design development process, ideation, and how to generate architectural diagrams.
