Choose an urban theory based on morphological, social, functional, temporal, and visual. After that, we had to conduct a façade study on the urban walls to exemplify our understanding on positive outdoor space, edges, building scale, usages and the public realm. In addition, we were tasked to analyze two precedent studies from an international context and the other from tropical cities, to cover the aspects of a) Community Centre for the Creative City, b) tropical architecture, and c) block context.

Medan Pasar, a small and forgotten city that used to prosper due to the awakening of banks during olden times. As time passed, the identity of the city started to fade. Former functions such as trading have been neglected, causing the city to be forgotten by the community. What's left is a sense of nostalgia. When the city loses its soul and identity, people start to lose interest in the city, not allowing them to pause and appreciate, making the city transient, a devoided city.

REFLECTION.

For our final project, we were assigned to design a community center for the creative city in an urban context which consists of appropriate architectural responses that address the aspects of the urban street context and user behavioral patterns. From this assignment, I was able to reflect on the importance of developing a design by analyzing the site context in order to generate design strategies. The design process involved a long and tiring process of trial & error and ideation, however, the analysis conducted was a very interesting discovery as it was my first time producing a community building within an urban context. It was quite pressuring to complete the project as there were several submissions in the final week. I think that if I had more time, I could have produced a better outcome. In addition, the workshops provided were very helpful as they allowed us to further understand certain aspects of the project. I have also been able to learn different laws (UBBL) to help in this project.

Lastly, I would like to thank my tutor, Dr Nora for guiding me through this journey as it did ease me from confusion at certain points of this project and has taught me many new things. She was always ready to help me whenever I was lost and pointed out places for improvement. This module was really enjoyable for me as I was able to express my design and further improve myself.
